Volkswagen, the German automobile company, announced on Wednesday an increase in global deliveries for the initial three months of 2025.
The firm based in Wolfsburg handed over approximately 2.1 million cars to customers from January through March, marking a 1.4% increase from the first quarter of 2023.
The numbers indicate a minor rebound for Volkswagen following a 2.3% decrease in deliveries during 2024.
Nevertheless, the firm is bracing for challenging times ahead due to the 25% tariffs imposed by the U.S. on all imported vehicles last week.
The main VW brand, accounting for roughly half of the company’s total sales, experienced an increase of 5% in deliveries during the initial three months, totaling approximately 1.1 million vehicles. In contrast, Audi reported a decline of 3.4%, with deliveries reaching 383,400 units, and Porsche witnessed a drop of nearly 8%, delivering about 71,500 cars.
The crucial Chinese market caused worry, as VW managed to deliver just 644,000 vehicles—a 7% decrease from the first quarter of 2024.
Shipments in Europe increased by 3.7%, whereas US shipments jumped by 6.2% as clients aimed to avoid impending duties.
Globally, Volkswagen’s electric vehicle sales surged by 60%, totaling 216,800 units, with 158,000 sold in Europe.
