The Vancouver Canucks We have transferred forward Jonathan Lekkerimäki to the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks. The general manager, Patrik Allvin, announced this on Tuesday morning.

Lekerimäki was not dressed for the Canucks' most recent game. match versus the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday , as Nils Höglander came back into the lineup.

Höggy plans to head in tonight for [Lekkerimäki], prior to that match, head coach Rick Tocchet stated You know, I'd prefer not to use [Lekkerimäki], but since Höggy is prepared, I'm eager to see his performance.

Höglander scored upon his return to the lineup, seamlessly continuing from where he last stopped before getting injured.

For Lekkerimäki, he returns to the scorching hot area. The Abbotsford Canucks, having secured 13 consecutive victories, continue their impressive streak. even though many of their usual contributors are now busy playing with the NHL team.

Lekkimaki is just two games away from becoming ineligible for the Calder Trophy next season.

In the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, the Canucks chose Lekkerimäki as their 15th overall selection. Despite facing injuries during a challenging D+1 campaign, he bounced back with a strong performance in the 2023-24 SHL season, netting 19 goals and contributing 12 assists over 46 regular-season matches. Following this, he inked his entry-level contract and played in six games for Abbotsford towards the end of the previous season.

This season, Lekkerimäki has netted 19 goals in 32 AHL contests, demonstrating impressive performance as a rookie competing in North America. Although he has exhibited moments of exceptional skill, his offensive prowess hasn't fully carried over to the NHL stage for the 20-year-old so far. In 24 NHL games this campaign, Lekkerimäki has recorded only three goals along with three assists.

He managed to score an impressive shootout goal against Jacob Markstrom, which helped the team. The Canucks defeated the New Jersey Devils. even though, and we believe that ought to be worth considering.

Nevertheless, as Lekkerimäki is set to join Abbotsford and only five games left for the Canucks in the NHL schedule, it will be intriguing to observe whether he has played his final match at the NHL level until the following season.
