It comes equipped with all 604 horsepower.
This vehicle should not be around in 2025 America. Station wagons have not been trendy here since the 1970s, and anything arriving from Germany has faced issues since early April. hit with a 25 percent tariff That could shift before Mercedes reaches this level of success. E-Class hybrid over to the States, but praise the AMG team for making the attempt.
And what an endeavor this proves to be. Here we have the (pause for emphasis) 2026 Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid Wagon, which looks virtually unchanged from the European model showcased more than a year back. For those needing a reminder, it delivers 577 horsepower under standard conditions, rising to 604 horsepower with Race Start engaged. The figures remain consistent as before. E53 sedan This model features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Positioned between them is an individual electric motor that contributes an additional 161 horsepower. The total output is directed to the wheels via the AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system.

With all settings at maximum for attack, Mercedes states that the E53 Hybrid Wagon accelerates to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. This performance necessitates the use of the mentioned Race Start system, which is part of the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package. Selecting this package not only boosts the vehicle’s top speed from an electronically governed 155 mph to 174 mph but also includes several enhancements such as an AMG limited-slip rear differential, carbon fiber brakes equipped with 15.4-inch front rotors, active engine mounts, and a stylish AMG steering wheel.
What you experience on the enjoyable side comes with the caveat that this vehicle is also a plug-in hybrid. It features a 28.6-kWh battery (with about 21.2 kWh available for use), situated beneath the rear section of the station wagon. This setup allows driving solely on electricity up to speeds of around 87 mph before engaging the gasoline engine. At present, Mercedes hasn’t disclosed the precise all-electric range; however, it’s expected to hover near approximately 40 miles. To put this into perspective, consider that the E53 Hybrid sedan can travel roughly 42 miles using identical components and energy storage. Considering the additional weight from being a wagon, losing some mileage seems logical.
The wagon debuts in the United States featuring 12 different exterior colors along with numerous package choices that enhance the extended roof E-Class model. For fans of AMG, an additional upgrade is available: the E53 Hybrid Edition 1 variant, which comes dressed uniquely in Alpine Gray paintwork complemented by striking AMG accents and large 21-inch wheels. On the inside, expect to see a grey cabin adorned with yellow highlights as well as Edition 1 insignia, alongside virtually all premium features offered by Mercedes-Benz.

The E53 Hybrid marks the return of AMG's high-performance wagon in the States. The mighty E63 and its 603-hp twin-turbocharged V-8 bowed out after 2023. Technically, this new wagon is more powerful, albeit it by one pony and even then, it's only a temporary boost. But it's nearly a half-second slower to 60 mph than the E63. Mercedes doesn't mention anything about weight, but that hybrid powertrain must be rather beefy to see that much of a difference in acceleration.
Will the upcoming high-performance station wagon come with a price tag similar to the older E63 model? This remains an open question for now, however, our guess would be that they will likely have comparable prices. probably not. The vintage V-8 aircraft-inspired decal adds character to a vehicle priced starting from $122,000 in its most basic version. Although pricing details for the E53 Hybrid Wagon have not yet been released, the sedan begins at $89,150 with destination fees included. One might reasonably speculate that the wagon variant would likely be valued below six figures.
We'll find out by the end of this year when the 2026 Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid Wagon becomes available for purchase.
